A SAM Award is the industry’s stamp of quality and craftsmanship in recognizing the best in the residential development and construction industry. Industry watchers and consumers look for SAM Award recipients when reviewing new home construction and renovations, as there is no recognition more respected in distinguishing top-quality construction, design and innovation. Being nominated for this distinction in such a dynamic sector that provides homes for the Region’s residents and jobs for tens of thousands in creating the communities that we live, work and play in, was truly an honour.
Rick Martins, VP. 2018-2019 Ontario Home Builders Association Presidency
In his 2018-2019 presidency, Rick continued to champion the home believer message to support the great Canadian dream of home ownership by increasing housing choice and supply. Increasing housing choice and supply is the key solution to addressing the housing crunch that so many Ontarians face. Working with the new government, Rick advocated for reducing red tape, streamlining the approvals process, and strengthening the skilled trades and apprenticeship opportunities. He took a constructive approach to representing the building, development and professional renovation industry amidst a changing landscape, such as moving forward with Tarion Warranty Corporation, among other policy priorities.
